Members of the Rotary Club of Kajjansi have raised USD2,700 for the Rotary Foundation (TRF) at a fundraising dinner held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Nican Resort Hotel.

It was an evening to remember as Rotarians from Kajjansi and other clubs majestically entered the gates of Nican Resort Hotel as the sun was setting down.
Rotarians dressed to kill,  came in,  one by one on that Wednesday evening of 6th November 2024. As each one of them got out of their lavish vehicles, you could possibly think they were going to attend the innaugration of the just elected US President Donald Trump, yet they had come to attend a Rotary Foundation Fundraising Dinner.

As they gathered, they started posing for group photos by a banner that was strategically  placed at the entrance of Nican Convention Centre that will be officially opened on Friday, November 8, 2024 by the Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom.
Addressing participants, the guest of honour Prof. Alex Bashasha, the Honorary Consul of the  Commorros to Uganda, a Major donor level 3 and Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Muyenga, the biggest club on the African Continent, was happy to note that the Rotary Club of Kajjansi had taken a bold step of intentionally giving to the Rotary Foundation.
"Your being the second largest Club in Uganda, means you can contribute more to the Rotary Foundation" he said. He also donated USD1000 towards TRF.
Speaking at the same dinner, PDG Peace Taremwa a member of the club and one of the members of the Ridges Buddy Group that organised the dinner said "we decided to tag this Dinner to Polio Plus, a ticket was 100,000= dinner cost 45,000= and the 55,000= went to the individual's polio plus contribution "
Since 58 members paid the 100,000 each, therefore, 3,190,000= was raised towards Polio Plus. This was a very good initiative because there was a real cause for the dinner.

On his part president of the club Amos Aine encouraged members to always give to the Foundation because  it is such donations that are used in global grants for projects.
Before feasting to a very sumptuous dinner, members donated cash in dollars to the Rotary Foundation to a tune of 2,700.
Two members received their PHF pins.

After the meal, it was time to shake off the day's stress. As the DJ played Cool and the Gang's Let’s go Dancing oh! Lah  lah lah, PDG Peace led the buddy group in a dance that left everybody wondering whether thwse guys had bones in their bodies. The way Owek. PAG Damjo, Moses and the ladies wiggled  left everyone wondering whether they would wake-up the following day.

Then came the president Amos dancing like all his life depended on the dance. Not to be left out, the guest of honour showed rotarians what type of dancer he is, with strokes similar to Michael Jackson's moves in Thriller.
As the DJ mixed the music and pumped the baselines, with sounds reverberating from the gigantic speakers, nobody was left down as they all stood and danced like caterpillars.

It was an evening to remember though the writer was not able to dance.
