Kirima Primary School Launches Construction of New Three-Classroom Block with Rotary Support

Kirima, Kanungu – August 7, 2025

In a joyful and promising ceremony held at Kirima Primary School, construction was officially launched for a new three-classroom block set to serve the growing pupil population of 298 learners. The project is being funded by the Rotary Clubs of Kajansi and Kihiihi, with a total estimated cost of 57 million Ugandan shillings.

Representing the Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkiizi, Rev. Bob Mbabazi Ntegyereize graced the event, commending the initiative as a great step in building not only infrastructure but the future of the community. Quoting Proverbs 22:6, he emphasized the value of educating children as a long-term investment in society.

Present at the launch were the pupils, teachers, and Head Teacher of Kirima Primary School, Ms. Justine Kyarimpa, who appreciated the efforts of her predecessor, Mpano Florence, for initiating the project before her transfer. She expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and pledged proper stewardship of the upcoming classroom block.

The President of the Rotary Club of Kajansi, Mrs. Loy Karisa, announced that 15 million shillings had so far been raised to kick-start the project. She challenged the school leadership and community to guard the asset jealously and ensure it is used effectively to benefit the children and the wider community. “Please educate your children,” she urged, “because education is the most precious gift we can give.”

Also in attendance was Mr. Sunday Charles, former District Education Officer and current President of the Rotary Club of Kihiihi, who expressed great joy at the realization of this long-anticipated dream.

Rtn. Geoffrey Peace Taremwa, former District Governor, called upon the people of Kirima to work together in unity, cooperation, and shared vision for sustainable development.

The Diocese of Kinkiizi also pledged its continued spiritual and moral support toward the education and growth of the children in the region.

Construction is expected to commence immediately, with full community involvement and transparency.
