EDITOR’S  NOTE

Dear Readers,

I welcome you to September, the Basic Education and Literacy month. A month which brings awareness among the masses, opens avenues for opportunities as well as self-advancement and improvement. Being able to read and write means being able to keep up with current events, communicate effectively, and understand the issues that are shaping our world.

Our monthly magazine is here to keep you updated on our Rotary club activities and all that’s happening around the Rotary world. Let us keep informed.

Our September issue features various activities like speeches from our club President, the Rotary International President, our District Governor, the editor’s note, the Rotary Cancer Run, the Rotary International President’s visit to Uganda, our Jjanyi monthly immunization and community work, different articles, anniversaries and celebrations from different Rotarians, and so many more.

PRESIDENT  ALEX  KAMUKAMA’S  SEPTEMBER MESSAGE

In Rotary September is a month that focuses of Basic Education and Adult literacy,.

I wish to appreciate members of the Rotary Club of Kajansi for your tireless efforts towards dismenating appropriate ways of achieving the desired goal.

Through the Vents Buddy group that doubles as the Youth Committee, great speakers have been invited to share their expertise in  the subject matter.

We learnt from Past Presidents Annet Nannyonjo and Martin Lwanga how to utilise the online tools to make it possible for learners whose schools were closed because of Covid 19 pandemic.

The Club has remained steadfast in pushing the agenda to revamp Katwe Bweya Primary school. A Global Grant Application was submitted seeking funding that will cover construction of toilets, furniture and computer facilities.

Once these amenities are obtained, the young learners will be able access reasonable learning environments. We hope that their academic performance will improve and ultimately, their future will be brighter.

Rotarians are aware that the ability of the population to read and write enhances their chances of  reducing poverty, tackling diseases, and  caring for the environment. The success in  these areas of focus seem to have their foundation in learning how to write and read.

As we are called upon by our Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta to go and Serve to Change Lives, let us do exactly that.

THE BRICK BULLETIN AUGUST 2021

 PRESIDENT ALEX KAMUKAMA’S  AUGUST 2021 MESSAGE

This being a month when we celebrate Membership, let me appreciate all the Rotarians in our different clubs. 

You are the force behind the comfort of children who sit in those school buildings you have put up.

The Rotary Foundation contributions you make annually have improved lives of global population through eradication of malaria, provision of water, sponsoring peace studies among others.

Without members of Rotary clubs, there wouldn’t be the love we share whenever there is a celebration of life.  We wouldn’t have friends to console us in those trying times. 

The more we are the better for humanity. That is when we shall be able to increase our impact. 

The burden of diseases in our communities, the environmental challenges and all ills afflicting society shall be tackled because we are many and able.

Therefore, we have to answer the Rotary International President’s call where each Rotarian is called upon to bring yet another member.

As we bring in new members, we shall remain steadfast in keeping the current membership engaged, motivated and inspired. 

We shall then serve to change lives.
