ROTARY AWARDS GULU'S BEST JAILER

IT is very unusual for people to appreciate the work of a jailer. Society looks at them as agents of torture yet these have a duty to carry out correctional services to the errant members of society who are put into their (Prison's) custody.

Rotary Club of Kajjansi on January 29, 2022 travelled from Uganda's capital Kampala to the northern city of Gulu. Club members braved the  332.72 km distance to Lugore Prisons Farm.  It is here they met Ch/dr111Odit a Prisons officer  and awarded him a Vocational Service Award for his exemplary work for 32 years.

The team was headed by AGE Flavia Mujurizi and guest of honour was  DGE Peace Taremwa (D9214) who is also a member of the club.

Prior to the Vocational Award ceremony, Rotarians of Kajjansi in partnership with Afripads gifted  600 re-usable pads and 100 knickers to the female inmates in Gulu Prison. They also made a contribution of 320,000/- to female inmates skills training center and 60,000/- towards milk for the babies of the inmates at Uganda Women Prison Gulu on their way to Uganda Prisons Farm Lugore.

Thank you Rotary for your hearts of gold
